Windies’ training camp disrupted as pacer Marquino Mindley returns positive for Covid-19

The West Indies training camp, which is currently preparing for upcoming series against South Africa, has been disrupted as uncapped pacer Marquino Mindley has tested positive for Covid-19 at high-performance centre in St Lucia.

After the incident, Mindley, a 26-year-old Jamaican, will now isolate himself in his hotel room and the Cricket West Indies’ (CWI) medical team will keep track of his recovery process.

He will be allowed to rejoin until he returns back-to-back negative results.

Meanwhile, the other squad members, including players and coaches, have returned negative for the virus.

Significantly, South Africa is scheduled to tour West Indies for two Test matches and five T20 Internationals. While the Test series will begin on June 10, the T20I rubber will start from june 26.

Both the Test matches will be played in St Lucia while the T20 Internationals will be held in Grenada.
