West Indies to visit Bangladesh for three ODIs and two tests

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has agreed to tour Bangladesh for a shortened tour after a report from their inspection team to the board of directors on what they made out of a short trip earlier this month. The visitors will now play three ODIs and two tests against Bangladesh in January. Originally the teams were scheduled to engage themselves in three tests and a T20 series too, which has now been ruled out.

The West Indian cricketers are expected to arrive in Dhaka on January 10 and go into a three-day room quarantine. After the completion of the quarantine period, the players will be allowed to train for 4 days among themselves. They will play a warm-up one-day game at the BKSP in Savar, some 40km to the north of the capital Dhaka.

The ODIs will be played on January 20, 22 and 25. Both the third ODI and the first test (starts on February 3) will be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. West Indies will also play a four-day warm-up game at the MA Aziz Stadium prior to the test series.

The second Test in Dhaka starts on February 11 and the visitors are scheduled to leave the capital on February 16, a day after the test ends. This will be Bangladesh’s first international series since the pandemic threw almost the entire world into a lockdown. Bangladesh have already had bilateral series against Pakistan, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and Sri Lanka postponed indefinitely. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is trying their best to rearrange all these matches.
