Tokyo Paralympics: Two positive Covid cases reported from athletes’ village

Two Covid-19 cases have emrged inside the athletes’ village of the upcoming Tokyo Paralympics, the games’ organising committee confirmed on Saturday.

The organising committee revealed a total of 15 new cases in the last 24 hours. However, in a major relief, none of the athlete has reported positive so far as.

Significantly, the two cases are among the staff.

Of the 15 cases confirmed on Saturday, five are from among ‘Games Related Persons’, which includes representatives of the International Paralympic Committee, the International Olympic Committee, National Olympic Committees and international federations.

The remaining 10 cases have been reported from among the contractors and workers, who all have been isolated.

So far, more than 100 Covid-19 confirmed cases have been reported in relation to the Paralympic Games.

The Tokyo Paralympics will start on August 24 and will continue till September 5.
