Sri Lanka Cricket likely to reschesule India series due to Covid outbreak

The upcoming ODI series between touring India and hosts Sri Lanka is likely to be reschesuled after as many as three support staffs of the home side have reportedly tested postive for Covid-19.

The series, which is slated to begin from July 13, will now possibly begin from July 17 following the incident.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) however, is yet to make an official announcement in this regard.

Earlier on Thursday, Sri Lanka batting coach Grant Flower had returned positive for Covid-19, the island nation’s board had confirmed.

“He was found to be positive during a PCR test carried out on him today when Flower showed mild symptoms of the disease,” the SLC had said in an official statement.

Immediately after the development, Flower was isolated from the rest of the players and other members.

The team members are currently undergoing quarantine following their return from England on Tuesday, where they had lost both the ODI and T20I series.

The Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian side is scheduled to play three ODIs and as many T20Is during their tour to the island nation.
