Salil Ankola retained as chief selector of MCA

Former India speedster Salil Ankola has been retained as the chief selector of Mumbai Cricket Association.

Ankola was reinstated by the MCA’s Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC), which consists of former India players Jatin Paranjpe, Nilesh Kulkarni and Vinod Kambli.

Ankola, 52, has played only one Test, where he managee two wickets.

In 20 ODIs, he had scalped 13 wickets.

Ankola was first appointed as Mumbai’s chief selector last season and the committee led by him had picked up the senior squads for the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq trophies.

While Mumbai won the Vijay Hazare Trophy last season, it had a very poor outing in the Mushtaq Ali tournament.
