Procam International postpones TCS World 10K Bengaluru

Procam Internationals, India’s leading long-distance run organisers, have announced the postponement of the TCS World 10K Bengaluru to November 22.

This is the first time that the organisers of the prestigious event which puts Bengaluru on the global map of distance running have been compelled to postpone the run.

Traditionally conducted on the third Sunday of May, the TCS World 10K Bengaluru will now be re-scheduled to 22nd November 2020.

Emphasising on the benefits of this revised date, Procam International Joint-MD Vivek Singh said, “While this (coronavirus) pandemic has plunged the world into a crisis we have never encountered before, we believe this phase will pass with sport coming through even stronger.

Safety and precaution are paramount for the event. This re-scheduling of the Tata Consultancy Services World 10K, was imminent to regain some form of normalcy, especially for the travel and participation of our international stakeholders. The support and co-operation received from all our stakeholders, has been unparalleled. 22nd November 2020, should give us all necessary time to heal, re-energise and deliver the event with our customary zeal.”

The online registrations for the rescheduled event will commence on September 8 from 7 am. Runners desiring to participate will be able to register online on https://tcsworld10k.procam.in.

Tata Consultancy Services World 10K is the only ‘World Athletics’ Gold Label Race in Asia and one amongst only five gold label 10 km races globally. The event holds a place of pride in the global running calendar and receives applause for its formidable international elite field and mass participation each year.

A cohesive collaboration amongst global sporting entities such as the Association of International Marathons & Distance Running (AIMS), World Athletics (WA), Global Sports Communication (GSC) along with Athletics Federation of India (AFI), and the Government of Karnataka has been the hallmark of this event. Further inputs from some of these frontline bodies have encouraged the promoters to take the call to shift the date of this marquee sporting property, organisers stated in a Press release.

TCS World 10K Bengaluru Race Director Hugh Jones  said, “These are unprecedented times and the world has not witnessed a prolonged fight against a pandemic such as this. Postponing an event of this magnitude is never easy. We are fortunate that all stakeholders were on board with this new date and they too are of the belief that runner’s safety comes first. We are positive this will be over soon, and we can once again etch inspiring stories from India, for the world.”

For the benefit of registered runners, following options have been designed to ensure a smooth transition.
