Pakistan’s Shahnawaz Dhani ruled out of Asia Cup 2022

In a massive setback for Pakistan, pacer Shahnawaz Dhani has been ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022.

The massive setback for Pakistan came side ahead of their first clash in the Super 4s stage against arch-rivals India.

The Babar Azam-led Pakistan side had already faced major setback of Shaheen Shah Afridi’s absence before the ongoing tournament kicked-off.

Notably, Shaheen suffered a side strain injury while fielding during the second match of the Asia Cup tournament against Hong Kong on Friday and the team spokesperson said that the medical will monitor Dhani’s condition in the next two days.

“Shahnawaz Dahani will not be available for Sunday’s ACC T20 Asia Cup Super-4 match against India due to a suspected side strain. The injury happened while bowling in the match against Hong Kong in Sharjah on Friday,” the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a statement.

“As is the case with any suspected side strain injury, the medical team will monitor him for the next 48-72 hours, following which they will make decisions, including carrying out a scan and further participation in the tournament,” the statement added.

In Dhani’s absence, either Hasan Ali or Mohammad Hasnain will get a chance in the playing XI against India on Sunday.
