Misbah-ul-Haq tests positive for Covid-19 in Jamaica

Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq on Wednesday tested positive for Covid-19, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said.

After the development, Misbah, who is asymptomatic, will now be restricted to complete his 10-day quarantine in Jamaica and will not be departing for Lahore with his side later on Wednesday.

The coach can now only depart for Pakistan after completing his quarantine period.

Notably, Misbah is reportedly the only member from the Pakistan squad to fail two pre-departure PCR tests.

“In pre-departure PCR testing, Misbah-ul-Haq has tested positive, he remains asymptomatic. Rest of the squad to fly out from Jamaica later today as scheduled. We wish Misbah a speedy recovery,” the PCB tweeted.

On the other hand, the remaining Pakistan squad will fly for their home as per schedule.

As per reports, Azhar Ali, Yasir Shah, Muhammad Abbas, and Naseem Shah will not fly back to Pakistan as Yasir and Naseem will travel to Antigua to participate in the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) while Abbas and Azhar will fly to London to play county cricket.

The Green Brigade had won the T20I series against host West Indies before levelling the two-match Test series.
