LSG skipper KL Rahul ruled out of IPL 2023

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have received a massive blow as their skipper and opener KL Rahul has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2023.

Rahul, who suffered an injury to his right hamstring during his team’s match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday, has been ruled out of the showpiece tournament and he will now receive treatment for his injury at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Though no official confirmation from either the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) or the LSG management have been made, reports have confirmed that Rahul will not take any further part in IPL 2023.

Reports suggested that Rahul will now head to the NCA in Bengaluru on Thursday (4 May) and the BCCI will take over his treatment. However, before flying to Bengaluru, he will undergo scans in Mumbai.

“KL Rahul, who limped off the ground, during Lucknow Super Giants’ defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday is expected to miss the remainder of the Indian Premier League. While exact details on the nature of his injury is yet to be shared by the franchise or the BCCI, it is understood that the opener will fly to Mumbai to undergo scans and then will head to the National Cricket Academy for rehabilitation,” claimed an Indian Express report.

Meanwhile, Rahul’s LSG teammate and pacer Jaydev Unadkat will also head to the NCA to recover from the shoulder injury he sustained during a practice session in Lucknow on Sunday.

The IE report also claimed that Unadkat would need 6-7 weeks time to recover.
