LaLiga: Villarreal face tough battle against hosts Mallorca

Mallorca FC is at El Madrigal to challenge Villarreal later tonight (India) time for their LaLiga encounter as the Spanish top flight professional club competition is rushing through a rapid pace to complete the season.

The league had resumed on Saturday after more than two months of break as the life in Spain was killed by the deadly spread of novel coronavirus.

Mallorca had the misfortune of returning to action against Barcelona in their first game on resumption. They were drubbed 0-4, while their rivals in today’s game The Yellow Submarine go into the match after a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo. Mallorca FC will also have the home advanctage.

Both the teams have played won two games in their last five outings. Villarreal have won two and lost three, while Mallorca have managed to enforce draw in one game besides the two wins.

In 14 games, the head to head record is heavily tilted towards Villarreal with seven wins, three losses and parity in the other four matches.

Villarreal will have to start without  Bruno Soriano and Ramiro Funes Mori yet again as both have not received from their  injuries. For Mallorca, Lumor Agbenyenu and Leonardo Koutris are still not ready to return.

With a win today, Villarreal stand a chance of moving up from the 9th position to the 7th by displacing Valencia, while an adverse result can further push Mallorca a step down from the 18th if Espanyol pull off a victory in the other match of the day.

 Likely starting XI:

Villarreal: Asenjo; Gaspar, Albiol, Torres, Moreno; Trigueros, Iborra, Cazorla; Moreno, Alcacer, Chukwueze

Mallorca: Reina; Sastre, Raillo, Valjent, Pozo; Rodriguez, Sevilla, Pedraza, Kubo; Budimir, Hernandez

The match scheduled to start at 11:00 pm IST will be streamed LIVE in India by Facebook.
