It looks rare when Team India skipper Virat Kohli misses a ton for a long period in either Tests or ODIs.
It has been one year and 122 days since Kohli has scored a century in international cricket as his last century had come against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, on November 23, 2019 while his last ODI ton against Australia at Ranchi on March 8, 2019.
However, with the upcoming three-match ODI rubber against England starting on Tuesday, Kohli will be on a step away from equalling Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI record and surpassing Ricky Ponting’s feat.
If Kohli can register a ton in the first ODI, he would equal Tendulkar’s tally of Indian batsmen with most centuries (20) at home in ODIs.
Also, h will become the captain with the most centuries in international cricket across formats.
In the list of captains with the most centuries in international cricket, Currently, Kohli and Ponting (41 each) are tied at the top position.
With a ton in the first ODI, Kohli will also equal Ponting’s tally of most centuries as captain (22) in the ODIs.
