It’s Dream11 IPL 2020; Tata Group ends up last in bid race

Dream11 has won the bid to replace Vivo as the title sponsors of the Indian Premier League 2020.

The IPL Season 13 in the UAE from September 19 to November 10 will be known as the Dream11 IPL.

The leading fantasy sports platform has won the bid against two other strong contenders Uncacadedmy and sentimental favourite Tata Group, which eventually ended up last in the race.

Dream 11 has won the deal for ₹ 222 crores to replace Vivo after the Chinese mobile phone manufacturer and the Board of Control for Cricket in India have agreed to pause their ₹ 440-crore annual contract for this season.

It is almost a 50% setback to the BCCI in the bargain to find a short-term replacement on a short notice.

E-learning platform Byju’s has made the next best bid at ₹ 201 crores and the Unacademy made an offer of ₹ 170 crores.

It is learned that the Dream11 bid was backed by one of India’s leading mobile service providers.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India had invited all the parties who have submitted the expressions of interest on Friday last.
