ISL: Kerala Blasters extends contract with Ishfaq Ahmed

Kerala Blasters FC has announced a three-year extension to its contract with Ishfaq Ahmed as the Assistant Coach of the club.

Srinagar footballer Ishfaq’s journey with Kerala Blasters has started in 2014, the inaugural year of the ISL, as a central midfielder. He has continued as a player-cum-assistant coach in subsequent years.  An India international, he had been a part of the Kerala Blasters team that played two ISL finals.

The versatile footballer, who completed his B-Level AFC coaching certificate course, had re-joined the club for the ISL Season 6 (2019-20).

“I want to thank the management for giving me the opportunity to serve this amazing club both as a player and a coach. The journey has been exciting thus far and I am eagerly looking forward to working with the new coach for the upcoming season. Together, we hope to implement the goals of the club and take it to greater heights” says Ishfaq.

Kerala Blasters Sporting Director, Karolis Skinkys added, “Ishfaq, with his rich experience, effective guidance and professional commitment is a great value add to the team. The club will continue to support his vision for the squad.”
