IPL 2021: SRH draft Jason Roy as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh

England batsman Jason Roy has been signed Sunrisers Hyderabad as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh, who has pulled out of the upcoming 14th edition of the Indian Premier League.

Jason Roy made his IPL debut in 2017 playing for Gujarat Lions & later featured for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the 2018 IPL edition.

He has played a total of eight matches and scored 179 runs with one half-century to his name.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have acquired Roy at his base price of Rs 2 Crore, which was also the price of Marsh.

Earlier, Aussie all-rounder Marsh had expressed his inability to spend long times inside the bio-bubble.

As per the BCCI protocol for Covid-19, a player would have to undergo a mandatory seven-day quarantine period plus a 50-day bio-bubble during the complete season.

However, Marsh found the mandatory guidelines restrictive and as a result decided to pull  out of the tournament.

Sunrisers will begin their IPL 2021 campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 11 in Chennai.
