Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) spinner Adam Zampa and pacer Kane Richardson have decided to pull out of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) citing personal reasons, the franchise announced on Monday.
“Adam Zampa & Kane Richardson are returning to Australia for personal reasons and will be unavailable for the remainder of #IPL2021. Royal Challengers Bangalore management respects their decision and offers them complete support,” RCB tweeted.
The Aussie pair’s decision comes a day after another Australian cricketer in the tournament – Andrew Tye of Rajasthan Royals had returned to his home, also for personal reasons.
On Sunday, Delhi Capitals (DC) off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had also decided to take a break from the IPL to support his family, who are “putting up a fight against Covid-19.”
However, none of the players or franchises said that their decision had anything to do with the prevailing Covid-19 situation in India.
Significantly, Covid-19 cases are on the rise at an alarming rate in India.
