Punjab Kings (PBKS) have roped in England leg-spinner Adil Rashid for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season as a replacement for Jhye Richardson.
It will be Rashid’s debut IPL season as being considered as one of the best white-ball spinners, he had gone under hammer in the league auctions on several occasions but failed to attract any buyer.
In T20Is, Rashid, who recently featured for the Northern Superchargers in inaugural edition of The Hundred, has bagged 232 wickets from 201 matches T20s.
Rashid will be joining spinners Murugan Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Jalaj Saxena, Harpreet Brar and Fabien Allen in PBKS’ spin department.
PBKS will resume their IPL 2021 UAE-led campaign against Rajasthan Royals on September 21 before taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad (September 25), Mumbai Indians (September 28), Kolkata Knight Riders (October 1), Royal Challengers Bangalore (October 3) and Chennai Super Kings (October 7), respectively.
With just three wins from eight games, PBKS are placed at the sixth place in the points table.
