IPL 2020: Women’s T20 Challenge players to assemble on Oct 13

The Indian players for the Women’s T20 Challenge will be assembling in Mumbai from October 13, Tuesday. The players will stay in quarantine till the contingent will leave for Dubai on October 23.

Though the BCCI has not announced the squads for the tournament, dubbed as women’s Indian Premier League, the players have reportedly been informed to ensure their presence in Mumbai on October 13.

The BCCI on September had announced the five member women’s selection panel, to be headed by former India international Neetu David. Arati Vaidya, Renu Margarate, Venkatacher Kalpna and Mithu Mukherjee are the other members of the selection panel.

While the formal announcement of the teams for the Women’s T20 Challenge is still awaited, a senior player has confirmed to the Sportstar about the advisory to reach Mumbai on October 23.

The players will be tested regularly during their stay in Mumbai. The players will enter the bio-bubble after three negative RT-PCR tests. However, there are concerns over the preparation time for the event, which has been slated from November 4 to 9.

“We have not played any forms of cricket since March, so it will be bit of a challenge to go out there and perform. Hopefully, we will have some preparation time before the tournament begins,” Sportstar has quoted a a senior player as saying.

The players will be staying inside the bubble in Dubai. All the four matches will be played in Sharjah.
