IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals principal sponsorship up for grabs

Delhi Capitals will be heading to the UAE with a new principal sponsor for the Indian Premier League 2020.

The front jersey of the team is up for grabs, the franchisee has announced on its social media accounts.

Air-conditioning brand Daikin has been on the team’s front jersey since 2015 when the team was known as Delhi Daredevils. Daikin had replaced the online market place Quikr.

However, in a scenario not so apt for the air-conditioning marketing, continuity of the deal made little commercial viability for Daikin.

Even as the league this year will be played at offshore venues behind closed doors, at least in the initial phase, the broadcast metrics still make IPL a worthwhile marketing platform for brands.

No other LIVE sports or broadcast property is going to offer a television audience reach of 550 million, 45o million OTT viewership and an expected 4.5 TVR.

Delhi Capitals this year have also roped in EbixCash as the back-jersey sponsor of the team.

The IPL franchisee from the national Capital is also negotiating several other deals.

The team owned by JSW and GMR groups has brands like EbixCash, Lotus Herbal, Jio, HPL, DTDC Courier, Coca-Cola, BKT tyres, boAt, Dream11, Fever 104 FM, Nasha 107.2 FM, Paytm Insider and Squad Gear on its sponsorship and partnership roaster.
