Indian cricket team completes quarantine period ahead of England series

Playing members of the Indian cricket team and support staff have completed their quarantine period in Chennai and will have first outdoor session from 5:00 PM later on Monday while their net sessions will start from Tuesday.

Three RT-PCR tests for Covid-19 were conducted at regular intervals and all tests have reportedly returned negative for the Indian players.

“The Indian cricket team completed their quarantine period today in Chennai. Three RT-PCR tests for Covid-19 were conducted at regular intervals and all tests have returned negative results. The team will have their first outdoor session today from 5 pm and nets sessions will begin from tomorrow,” BCCI said in a statement on Monday.

Meanwhile, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also confirmed on Monday that results from England players’ Covid-19 tests, which were conducted on Sunday, have too returned negative.

“All PCR tests from yesterday’s test have returned negative results. The England party are now out of quarantine and will train for the first time as a full group at the stadium tomorrow afternoon 2pm-5pm (IST),” the SCB said in a statement.

India and England will be playing four Tests, five T20Is and three ODIs. The first Test of the long series will begin in Chennai from Friday.

While M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will host the first two Tests, the Sardar Patel Stadium, commonly known as Motera Stadium, will be he venue of the final Two matches with the third Test being a Day-Night affair.

India currently sits at the second place in the ICC Test Team Rankings.
