India-South Africa women series from March 7 in Lucknow, confirms UPCA

The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has confirmed to host hosting an eight-match limited overs series comprising the senior women’s teams of India and South Africa in Lucknow from March 7.

The series will comprise of five ODIs and three T20Is and will also mark the Indian team’s return to competitive cricket after almost an year.

The two will be arriving in Lucknow on February 25 and will undergo a six-day quarantine. Meanwhile, although a 22-member Indian squad has already been picked for the series, the board is yet to make an official announcement.

While the ODIs will be played on March 7, 9, 12, 14 and 17, the T20 games will be held on March 20, 21 and 24.

Earlier, a Cricket South Africa (CSA) official has already confirmed that their team is set to travel to India this week. He also said that the mandatory COVID tests have also been done and the team will depart anytime soon.

Significantly, both the teams will have to serve a six-day quarantine period which means they will get a week of training before the series opener.

As the series will be played in a bio-bubble, the team needs to assemble at least two weeks before the first game with six days reserved for their quarantine.

Earlier, the series was scheduled to be held at the Greenfield Sports Hub Stadium in Thiruvanthapuram. However, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) expressed its inability to stage the matches as the stadium has been booked for an Army recruitment drive.
