Haryana Govt to provide financial assistance of Rs 5 lakhs to Olympic-bound athletes

The Haryana Government will provide a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakhs to the athletes who have qualified for the upcoming Olympic Games, it has announced.

Informing the media about the decision taken during the state Cabinet meeting, Kanwar Pal Gujjar said to promote sporting culture in the state, the Haryana Cabinet has decided to create a separate cadre under which, “50 posts of deputy directors in group-A, 100 posts of senior coaches and 150 posts of coaches in group-B, and 250 posts of junior coaches in group-C have been sanctioned.”

Outstanding sportspersons will be eligible to apply for the post within 10 years of their sports achievement or up to the age of 42.

A provision has been made for granting monthly stipend to the outstanding sportspersons on the basis of their achievements in sports tournaments of international level, especially Para Olympics, Asian Para Games, Commonwealth Para Games, World University Games and South Asian Games.
