ECB reluctant to allow limited crowd for first Test

Despite the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) desire to allow 50 per cent crowd and the media for the upcoming opening Test between India and England, it seems the affair will be held “behind closed doors” as the idea hasn’t gone well with the ECB and the visiting team.

Significantly, one of the provision for the tour was to hold the Tests “behind closed doors” and even after a talk between the ECB, BCCI and the TNCA on Monday, it has been learnt that the visiting team and its board are not convinced to amend the agreement.

However, according to sources, the ECB has given its nod for a limited crowd and media for the second test if the first affair takes place without any incident with England ensuring security measures.

Earlier, the ECB had requested for no crowd during the series. But following the State government’s nod, the TNCA had requested the BCCI to talk with the ECB for allowing 50 percent spectators.

The first Test of the four match series will begin from February 5 while the second will be held from February 13.
