Dubai-based company bags all Lanka Premier League commercial rights

Dubai-based Innovation Production Group (IPG) has bagged all major commercial rights for the upcoming Lankan Premier League.

The tender for the sale of rights of Sri Lanka Cricket and the Lanka Premier League included broadcast production, franchisee ownership, global media rights and on-ground sponsorships.

The inaugural edition of the Lankan Premier League is slated from August 28 to September 20. Sri Lanka Cricket had earlier launched the Sri Lanka Premier League in 2012, but that was suspended only after one edition.

Sri Lanka Cricket had floated an RFP for the sale of rights in the month of July. More than 25 companies across the world had expressed their interest.

‘We at IPG are enthralled with this opportunity and are confident of making LPL one the most premier cricket leagues in the world’ mentioned Anil Mohan, Founder and CEO of IPG.

The tender rights bagged by IPG includes the following rights –

  1. Team Franchise / Team Ownership Rights: The company will have the onus and the right to sell the franchisee rights.
  2. International Media Rights: The company will have the right and onus to syndicate the media rights in all territories across the world.
  3. Ground Sponsorship Rights: The company will sell on-ground sponsorships
  4. AV Production Rights

More than 70 international stars have already expressed interest to play in the LPL. SLC and IPG will work closely to bring in a world-class sporting experience for the fans of cricket in Sri Lanka and worldwide, featuring the biggest names in world cricket.
