Dhoni likely to undergo knee surgery

Just days after winning his record-equalling fifth IPL title at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, charismatic Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni is expected to undergo a knee surgery.

As per a report in Cricbuzz, the CSK skipper has been examined and the doctors have suggested that Dhoni’s knee needs to be operated.

Notably, Dhoni has been struggling with this ever since the inception of the just concluded 2023 season of IPL and the 41-year-old played the entire season of the cash-rich league with a heavily strapped left knee. Although he looked absolutely fine while working behind the stumps, he was clearly seen in discomfort while running between the wickets. In order to avoid this, Dhoni also came late to bat in multiple occassions during the 2023 season of the IPL.

Commenting on the issue, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan on Cricbuzz said: “MS Dhoni has gone to meet Dr Pardiwala (he is treating Pant as well) & prepare to take the surgery route to recover fully for the next season”.

When the CSK CEO was asked whether there was a possibility that Dhoni will decide not to feature in the next IPL season, a thing which will free up a purse of Rs 15 crore for the mini auction, he replied: “Frankly, we are not even thinking on those lines as we haven’t reached that stage.”

“It will be completely Dhoni’s call. But I can tell you in CSK, we haven’t entertained those thoughts,” Viswanathan said.

With Dhoni promising his fans for returning in the next IPL season, all eyes will be on his surgery and how long the charismatic captain takes to recover and get back to normal life.
