Delhi Capitals name Priyam Garg as replacement for injured Kamlesh Nagarkoti

Delhi Capitals (DC) have named right-handed batsman Priyam Garg as a replacement for injured pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti, who has suffered a lower back stress fracture.

Issuing an official statement by the tournament on Sunday, DC said that it has signed Garg at his base price of Rs 20 lakh.

Notably, Garg had played for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) between 2020 and 2022, featuring in 21 IPL games for the Orange Army.

Garg however, had gone unsold in the IPL auction held in last December.

Garg, who led India to runners-up finish in the 2020 U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in South Africa and represents Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket, has amassed 251 runs in the cash-rich league till now, averaging 15.69 with a strike-rate of 115.14, including one half-century.

In the ongoing IPL season, DC had somehow managed to end their five-game losing streak with a tight four-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Despite the win, they are still placed at the bottom of the 10-team points table.

The David Warner-led side will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday.
