CWG 2022: Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain crashes out in quarterfinals

India suffered a huge setbacks in the ongoing Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 boxing rings’ after Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain crashed out in the quarterfinals of the light middleweight category.

With the loss, Lovlina also missed out on a medal.

Lovlina, 24, who had registered an easy win in her first-round match, suffered a defeat against Rosie Eccles of Wales, a silver medallist at the 2018 Games in Gold Coast.

Lovlina lost her light middleweight quarterfinal bout 2-3 courtesy of a split decision which went in Eccles’ favour, even though she was leading the affair by a slight margin after the opening two rounds.

In the second round, Lovlina had a point deducted for holding, which appeared to have taken a toll on her as it was the end of roads for the Indian boxer.

Moreover, India also suffered another setback in the ongoing showpiece event as pugilist Ashish Kumar too, lost his bout.
