CSK reportedly signs TVS Srichakra as principal sponsor for three years

Three-time Indian Premier League champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have reportedly roped in TVS Srichakra as their principal sponsor on a three-year deal, which will come into effect from the 2022 season.

As per reports, the deal has been valued at approximately Rs 23 crore a year and the brand on display will be TVS Eurogrip.

For the 2021 season, CSK had roped in Myntra as their principal sponsor after their talks with automobile giants Skoda didn’t worked out.

The franchise or the automotive company, which has its headquarters in Chennai, are yet to make an official announcement on the development.

CSK, one of the most popular team in the cash-rich league, had earlier signed Indian fashion e-commerce company –Myntra as their principal sponsor for the 2021 season after the franchise’s negotiation with Czech automobile manufacturer Škoda didn’t worked out.

As part of the association, the jerseys of CSK players is presently carrying Myntra’s logo on the front in IPL 2021.

Founded in 2007, Myntra was acquired by Flipkart in 2014. The company later acquired fashion e-retailer Jabong in 2016. It has since grown to become one of the country’s biggest online fashion websites.

Earlier, Muthoot had sponsored the Yellow Brigade for three years and before it, Aircel, which was an India-based mobile network operator headquartered in Mumbai, was the principal sponsor of the three-time IPL champions between 2008 and 2015.

CSK however, didn’t participated in 2016 and 2017 as it was suspended from the league for two years for betting activities of their key official Gurunath Meiyappan.

The M.S. Dhoni-led CSK side has lifted the IPL title in 2010, 2011 and 2018 and have the best win percentage among all teams in the league.

Barring the 2020 season, CSK is the only IPL team to qualify for the playoff stage since 2008. The Yellow Brigade had a dismal outing in the 2020 season, which was held in U.A.E., when it finished the tournament with six wins and eight losses.

However, leaving the previous season behind, the MS Dhoni-led side started the 2021 season on a fresh note and are currently placed second in the points table.

The Yellow Brigade has managed to win five of their seven games so far in this year’s edition and have 10 points in their kitty.

CSK will resume their IPL 2021 campaign against defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI), captained by Rohit Sharma, on September 19 in Abu Dhabi.
