Cricket Australia to part ways with CEO Kevin Roberts

Cricket Australia Kevin Roberts can be the latest and biggest casualty in Australian sports in the past two months. Roberts and CA have reportedly have agreed to part ways and a formal announcement can be made over the next two days.

Cricket Australia, Sydney Morning Herald has reported, will announce an interim arrangement and a permanent replacement will be named later.

A formal announcement can be made over the next two days.

Roberts was elevated as the CEO of Cricket Australia in 2018 after James Sutherland had vacated the office after serving the board for 17 years. His contract were to run till December 2021, but the innings is coming to an abrupt end amidst mounting pressure from various quarters.

If failure to successfully handle the dispute with players’ association were enough, his move to inform the staff that a vast majority would be layed off until at least mid-year due to COVID-19’s impact on the game said to have served as the last nail in the coffin.

Pressure has been building over the board as various quarters in the Australian cricket administration have been against Roberts.

Reports in Australian media suggest that Roberts might not just be alone to be shown the door on Wednesday. Coach and support staff around both national teams are feared to follow him.
