Cricket Australia announces partnership with Dettol

Cricket Australia has announced a partnership with Dettol. The global brand will be the official hygiene partner of the cricket governing body Down Under for four years. Cricket Australia (CA) announced the new four-year sponsorship deal with hygiene brand Dettol.

Along with supporting elite men’s and women’s cricket, Dettol will also supply hygiene products to the 3,455 cricket clubs across Australia as the nation continues its battle with COVID-19.

Dettol will now be front and centre during men’s one-day and T20 internationals on Australian soil as the naming rights partner for the white-ball formats, as well as featuring on the kit of the support staff and supporting the Australian Women’s Cricket Team.

“Dettol is such a well-known and trusted brand with a long heritage, both here in Australia and around the world, and their support will give confidence about protecting the return of community and elite cricket this summer,” said CA interim CEO, Nick Hockley.

“Beyond this summer, we look forward to working with Dettol to help embed hygienic behavioural change into schools, clubs and communities through cricket.”

With hygiene more important than ever during a global pandemic, CA has been exploring the use of disinfectant on cricket balls following the International Cricket Council’s move to ban the use of saliva to shine the ball.

Dettol got wind of this move and will now work with CA to develop hygiene protocols for players, staff and community cricket.

Cricket Australia has been in deep financial trouble following the payment and contractual disputes with broadcast partners and cancellation of a number of international series due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
