Chennai Super Kings not to part with Suresh Raina in next year’s IPL

Former India left-hander Suresh Raina can take a sigh of relief after the Chennai Super Kings informed that the franchise will not part ways with him. It was reported that Raina was thrown out by the franchise for alleged disciplinary issues ahead of IPL 13. However, the reasons cited for his exclusion was personal.

According to Mirror, a franchise official confirmed that the Raina will very much be a part of the squad for the next edition. Going by the words, the cricketer will now not have to worry about being picked by other franchises as far as IPL 14 is concerned.

β€œHe will be with us. There are no plans to part with him,” a top CSK management official told Mirror.

Raina found himself in trouble on Monday when he was arrested for breaking the night curfew in Mumbai. The 34-year-old who was later released on bail said that he was not aware of local timings and protocols. Reacting to the news, the franchise official said “We have only read about his arrest. Our plans have nothing to do with that development. He will continue to be with us.”

Suresh Raina’s relationship with the CSK roots long back to 2008, the first season of the Indian Premier League. The talented cricketer has scored over 4500 runs and has played over 160 games for the yellow army. He has lifted the IPL trophy thrice along with his team members. While Raina was not a part of this year’s IPL campaign, Chennai Super Kings failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time finishing seventh on the league table.

Raina announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this year but will be a part of the Mushtaq Ali Trophy in January.
