The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to allow the U23 cricketers, both capped and uncapped, to participate in The Hundred, a professional franchise 100-ball cricket tournament involving eight men’s and women’s teams located in major cities across England and Wales, from 2022.
The move is reportedly being taken keeping in mind the 2022 season ofthe Indian Premier League (IPL).
“BCCI may allow a certain category of Indian cricketers to play in The Hundred,” a source was quoted as saying by the Times Of Indian (TOI).
However, both the BCCI and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are yet to come together on it.
Significantly, the BCCI is mulling to take such a decision to expand the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the move will help bring other boards on the same page.
The BCCI is likley expand the IPL to 10 teams from eight, which would mean more matches and a bigger window.
