In its bid to complete the remaining games of the postponed Indian Premier League’s (IPL) 14th season, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has urged the England and Wales Cricket Board to advance the start of the five-match Test rubber between India and England by a week so that a window could be created in September for the remainder of the turnament.
Notably, the Test rubber is slated to brgin at Trent Bridge on August 4 and will conclude at the Old Trafford on September 14.
While no one from BCCI has officially confirmed the development, former England captain-turned cricket writer Michael Atherton has reported about the development in The Times daily.
“The BCCI has enquired about the possibility of moving the final Test of the English summer in order to make room to complete the postponed IPL,” The Times report said.
As per reports, the ECB is however, yet to respond to BCCI’s request.
Significantly, the 14th edition of the cash-rich league was postponed indefinitely on May 4 following bio-bubble breaches in its second-led in Delhi and Ahmedabad.
