Abu Dhabi govt. sets condition for allowing PSL 6 remainder in UAE

In a bid to complete the remaining games of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and to finalise the schedule, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will hold a meeting with the six franchises of the league on Wednesday evening today.

Although, the Abu Dhabi government had given a green signal to the PCB for holding the remainder of the tournament in its country, the major obstruction is reportedly one of the condition set by the host authorities.

As per reports, the Abu Dhabi government condition is that each and every person involved in the league – players, match officials, support staffs, broadcast and production crew should have been vaccinated against Covid-19, which is coming in as the major hurdle before PCB.

As these people come from various parts of the globe, the vaccination process in their respective countries are at different stages and in such a scenario, the conditions set by the Abu Dhabi government seems as a challenge before the PCB.

Moreover, travel restrictions have been put in place in the Abu Dhabi for flights from several countries, especially those coming from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and a majority of these people come from these countries.

Also, the remainder of the PSL 6 is due to resume on June 1 however, the 14-day quarantine period of the people involved in the tournament also remains another hurdle in the way. If the league would have to commence on June 1, the people should have begun their quarentine perios by now however, there isn’t such development happening.

In such a scenario, the PCB has asked the franchises and staffs to hold off currently.

With such hurdles on the way, it would now be interesting to see how the PCB overcomes the challenges, failing to which the sixth edition of the PSL could possibly be scrapped.
