Dinesh Karthik to leave Ind-Eng commentary panel after ongoing Test

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik will leave commentary stint in England midway as he will travel to the UAE to join his franchise ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 remainder, resuming on September 19.

Karthik will depart for the Gulf after the ongoing third Test between India and hosts England.

“The IPL starts in two weeks’ time. I may prepare and do as well as I can,” Karthik said.

Confirming that he will leave the commentary panel after the third Test, he said: “I won’t be here for the remaining two Tests. You guys have been good to me.”

Karthik, 36, has amassed 123 runs from seven games during the first leg of the 14th edition.

KKR will resume their campaign against the Virat Kohli-led Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on September 20.
