Dravid will be the coach for Sri Lanka tour, confirms Ganguly

Former India captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has now officially confirmed that his former teammate Rahul Dravid will serve as the head coach of Team India during the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka for the limited-overs series in July.

Although, Dravid’s name as the possible head coach was maing rounds but the BCCI board hadn’t made any official announcement in this regard.

“Rahul Dravid will be the coach for the India tour to Sri Lanka,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

Earlier, Dracid has also served the India A and national Under-19 team as the head coach.

The Indian squad, led by Shikhar Dhawan, for the Sri Lanka tour had started their 14-days institutional quarantine in Mumbai on Monday.

Meanwhile talking on the IPL 2021, the BCCI chief also said that the board has written to Indian government for tax exemption and that the decision on whether to host it in India or UAE will be taken subsequently.

“We have written to Indian government on tax exemption. We are awaiting for their response. We still have time. The board will take decision on it soon,” he explained.

Earlier, the 14th season of the IPL was indefinately postponed due to the emergence of Covid-19 cases in its bio-bubble during the second leg of the tournament in May.
