Team India to play three intra-squad matches before facing Sri Lanka

The India limited-over squad, which will take on hosts Sri Lanka in an ODI and T20I series in July, will play three intra-squad games in Colombo as part of their preparation.

The team, led by ace opener Shikhar Dhawan, will serve a 14-day quarantine in India from Monday before undergoing another phase of quarantine after landing in Colombo.

As per reports, the Men in Blue wanted to play some practice games against the domestic teams of Sri Lanka which was not possible due to the current Covid scenario.

As a result, the only option for warming up was to play intra-squad games.

The visitors will now play one T20 game and two one-day games to prepare for the limited-overs series.

The team will leave for Colombo on June 28.

After landing in Colombo, the Indian team will undergo three days of hard quarantine in before training in quarantine till July 4.

Later, the visitors will be allowed to train normally before the series begins on July 13 in Colombo’s R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.

The three ODIs will be played on July 13, 16, and 18 while the T20I matches will be held on July 21, 23 and 25.
