IPL 2021 to resume on Sep 19, final on Oct 15

The remaining part of the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) 14th season will begin from September 19 in the UAE and the final will be held on October 15, reports have suggested.

Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to make an official announcement, report say that the Indian board has zeroed in on the date for the resumption of IPL 2021.

It also said that the recent meetings between the BCCI and the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) went well and the Indian board is confident that the remaining games of the IPL 14 season will be held successfully across three venues in the UAE — Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.

Significantly, these three venues had earlier hosted the 2020 season of the cash-rich league.

Meanwhile, as it has been reported that many overseas cricketers will unlikely be a part of the remainder of the T20 tournament, the BCCI is in talks with their respective foreign boards and is hoping for a positive result.

Earlier on May 4, the 14th season of the lucrative league was forced to be indefinately postponed following the emergence of Covid-19 positive cases inside the tournament’s bio-bubble during the second-leg.
